Google is conducting a global trial of a new function that seamlessly blends AI Overviews with the AI-powered conversational mode in its Search platform. Prior to this development, Google's AI chat feature was accessible to users across the globe, enabling them to converse with the Gemini AI. Nonetheless, during that period, users were required to anticipate the nature of their search query and manually switch between modes as needed. This latest trial allows users to transition effortlessly into the AI chat mode directly from the search results page, sparing them the hassle of navigating away. It's worth noting that this feature is exclusively available on mobile devices at present. Meanwhile, OpenAI is concentrating on refining the chat experience, and as of November, the user base for Gemini has exceeded 650 million. The integration of the conversational mode with AI Overviews is anticipated to provide Google with a competitive advantage in the consumer market. The Vice President of Google Search Products emphasized that this enhancement enables users to articulate their queries with greater freedom.
