On December 1st, Doubao, an AI product developed by ByteDance, unveiled the technical preview version of its "Doubao Mobile Assistant." Leveraging the capabilities of Doubao's large language model, this assistant works in conjunction with mobile phone manufacturers at the operating system level, aiming for deep integration into the fundamental interactions of mobile devices. Users can activate the assistant via voice commands, side buttons, or through the Doubao Ola Friend earphones to perform tasks such as cross-application automatic navigation, ticket searching and booking, and placing product orders seamlessly.

Additionally, the assistant offers functionalities like voice calls, video calls, and screen sharing, and is equipped with AI-driven phone operation capabilities. Currently, developers and tech enthusiasts have the opportunity to test out this preview version on the engineering prototype Nubia M153—a collaborative project between Doubao and ZTE, priced at 3499 yuan. Doubao has unequivocally stated that it has no intentions of developing its own mobile phones and is, instead, engaged in discussions with multiple mobile phone manufacturers for potential collaborations. Further announcements regarding the progress of these talks are expected to be made in due course.
