Shanghai Jiao Tong University is set to launch an innovative undergraduate program in Embodied Artificial Intelligence (Embodied AI) in 2025. This program, categorized under Computer Science within the School of Artificial Intelligence, will span four years and culminate in a Bachelor of Engineering degree. It anticipates enrolling 30 students annually.

Under the leadership of Professor Lu Cewu, the program seamlessly integrates state-of-the-art knowledge from diverse disciplines. Its primary objective is to nurture a new generation of versatile, innovative talents equipped with a comprehensive understanding of Embodied AI.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University holds a distinguished legacy in the realm of Embodied AI research. Beyond its own initiatives, several other esteemed institutions, including Northeastern University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, are also gearing up to apply for similar programs.

In parallel, China has witnessed the establishment of numerous industry-academia collaborative laboratories dedicated to Embodied AI. Moreover, a wave of Embodied AI enterprises, backed by both academic institutions and renowned corporations, is steadily emerging. The industry is currently experiencing robust financial support, underscoring a positive trend characterized by tight-knit industry-academia-research integration and heightened investor interest.
