On November 28, a significant milestone was achieved as Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) inked a collaborative agreement to co-establish the School of Agricultural Artificial Intelligence. This newly formed institution stands as a dedicated secondary teaching and research entity under the auspices of HIT.

Both institutions are set to concentrate their efforts on addressing strategic imperatives, notably national food security and climate resilience. Their focus will be on pioneering advancements in key domains, including intelligent crop breeding, smart agricultural machinery, digital rural development, intelligent decision-making systems, as well as agricultural biosynthetic platform technologies and products.

Through this partnership, HIT and CAAS aim to foster mutual access to research platforms, nurture emerging interdisciplinary fields at the intersection of agriculture and technology, and collectively drive the cultivation of top-tier, multidisciplinary talent proficient in both agricultural sciences and engineering.
