In November 2025, the Lanzhou Institute of Arid Meteorology initiated the trial operation of the world's first artificial intelligence model designed for aerosol-meteorological coupled forecasting, following the successful completion of its operational readiness assessment. This cutting-edge model refreshes dust forecast products twice a day, boasting a high resolution of 5 kilometers. Such frequent updates facilitate more accurate predictions of localized dust events across northwest China. Remarkably, it is capable of generating global high-precision environmental meteorological forecasts for the upcoming five days, encompassing 54 crucial parameters, all within a mere minute. Moreover, the model furnishes detailed data on the optical thickness and mass concentration of diverse aerosols, such as dust, sulfate, and black carbon, thereby substantially elevating both the efficiency and the overall capability of meteorological forecasting.
