NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently requested TSMC to increase its 3-nanometer wafer production capacity by up to 50% to meet the explosive growth in orders for Blackwell AI chips. On November 8, Huang stated at TSMC's annual sports meet in Hsinchu that the company is facing 'extremely strong demand' and has requested an increase in wafer supply. This production expansion will raise TSMC's monthly 3-nanometer wafer capacity from the current 100,000 to 110,000 units to approximately 160,000 units, with about 35,000 units dedicated exclusively to NVIDIA.
