On November 4, 2025, OpenAI's AI-powered video app, Sora, made its official debut on the Android platform. According to data from the app analytics firm Appfigures — which encompasses all installations of Sora in the regions where it was launched — the app racked up close to 470,000 downloads on its very first day. This impressive showing far outstrips the initial launch performance of the iOS version, with a staggering year-on-year increase of 327%, translating to roughly 360,000 additional downloads. It marks a substantial boost in Sora's market penetration on the Android platform. Previously, the iOS version of Sora had soared past the one-million-download mark within just five days of its September 2025 release. The launch of the Android version not only broadened Sora's user base but also breathed fresh life into the AI video creation sphere, thanks to newly introduced features like "paid characters."
