According to expense management software platforms, the advent of AI-powered image creation tools from companies like OpenAI and Google has triggered a flood of AI-generated fake receipts within corporate environments. Software provider AppZen revealed that, among the fraudulent submissions received in September, roughly 14% were AI-crafted receipts—a stark contrast to the 0% reported the previous year. Meanwhile, fintech firm Ramp reported that its innovative software flagged over a million dollars in fraudulent invoices within a mere 90-day span.
