On October 15, 2025, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), in collaboration with Cyberport Management Company Limited, revealed the roster of participants for the second phase of the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenA.I.) Sandbox. From a pool of more than 60 submitted proposals, 27 distinct use - cases, sourced from 20 banks and involving 14 technology partners, were chosen.

The second phase of this sandbox initiative is primarily centered around bolstering AI governance. Notably, a significant number of the selected use - cases have embraced an 'AI against AI' approach. Later this year, the participants will gain access to a dedicated platform at Cyberport's AI Supercomputing Centre. Subsequently, technical testing is projected to kick off in the early part of 2026.
