According to a recent report commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by Censuswide, a survey of 2,003 UK employees in October 2025 revealed that "Shadow AI" (employees' unauthorized private use of AI tools) has saved the UK economy billions of pounds, but at the same time, it has raised urgent risks to information security and privacy. The use of such unauthorized AI tools operates outside the corporate IT governance framework, potentially leading to data breaches, compliance violations, and system security vulnerabilities.
