A research team led by You Li from Tsinghua University's Department of Physics has introduced a groundbreaking algorithm. This algorithm ingeniously converts the challenge of determining ground state degeneracy (a #BQP-class problem) into the task of finding the ground state of an expanded system (a QMA-class problem). Through the construction of a super-Hamiltonian, this innovative approach significantly reduces computational complexity and seamlessly integrates with current evolutionary algorithms. The algorithm's efficacy has been rigorously tested and confirmed in various models, including those for phase transition detection and frustrated systems. This development offers a potent new tool for advancing research in quantum many-body physics. The related findings have been published in Physical Review Letters and are supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
