According to a report from 36Kr, Chamath, often hailed as the American 'King of SPAC' (Special Purpose Acquisition Company), disclosed that his company has redirected a substantial portion of its operational needs to China's Kimi K2 model. The Kimi K2 model stands out for its robust performance and comes at a notably lower cost compared to similar offerings from industry giants like OpenAI and Anthropic. Chamath expressed his view that open-source models spearheaded by China are posing a significant challenge to the hegemony of U.S.-based closed-source models in the market.
