On October 9, TIME magazine released its highly anticipated 2025 Best Inventions list. Among the standout entries in the robotics category was Unitree Technology's bipedal humanoid robot, the Unitree R1.
Launched in July at a starting price of 39,900 yuan, the Unitree R1 is specifically designed to cater to the needs of researchers, educators, and software developers. Weighing in at around 23 kilograms, this robotic marvel boasts an integrated artificial intelligence system. This system enables it to perform voice recognition and image processing tasks with ease. Moreover, with its 26 joints, the robot is capable of executing highly complex movements, making it a versatile tool in various settings.
This year's Best Inventions list has seen a significant expansion, now encompassing 300 items that span across multiple cutting-edge fields. In the robotics category alone, besides the Unitree R1, other notable entries include the Figure 03, the EufyMake E1 UV printer, and the HoverAir X1 ProMax, each representing a leap forward in robotic technology and innovation.
