On October 10, the Shanghai Xuhui Zhichun Innovation Center, a private non-profit entity co-founded by Zhang Yiming and Professor Yu Yong, held its grand opening ceremony. This center is set to actively seek out and recruit young individuals who harbor a keen interest in the expansive fields of computer science and artificial intelligence.
During the opening ceremony, Zhang Yiming shared that he has consistently placed a high priority on talent recruitment and development. Through his observations, he has noticed that the potential of numerous talented individuals remains largely unexplored. To illustrate his point, he drew a parallel to the overfitting issue commonly encountered in machine learning models. He explained that, just as overfitting can cause a model to perform poorly on new, unseen data, some talented people may struggle when faced with innovative tasks that require thinking outside the box and breaking free from established patterns.
