In 2024, the scale of China's artificial intelligence (AI) industry soared past 900 billion yuan, marking a remarkable 24% year-on-year growth. The number of AI-related enterprises in the country surged to over 5,300, constituting 15% of the global total. A comprehensive industrial ecosystem, encompassing foundational infrastructure, model frameworks, and diverse industry applications, has now firmly taken root.
Breaking down the figures, the revenue generated by the foundational layer witnessed a significant 54% year-on-year surge, reaching a staggering 309.9 billion yuan. Meanwhile, the model framework layer saw its revenue climb by 18% year-on-year, totaling 31.5 billion yuan. The application layer, too, experienced robust growth, with its revenue increasing by 13% year-on-year to hit 566.5 billion yuan.
Smart hardware, exemplified by AI-enabled smartphones, AI-powered computers, and intelligent connected vehicles, is undergoing rapid development. Despite facing challenges such as data scarcity and inadequate model generalization capabilities, China's AI industry is poised for continued expansion. Projections indicate that by 2025, the industrial scale is expected to exceed 1.2 trillion yuan, solidifying China's prominent position in the global AI market.
