In the waning days of September 2025, both Meta and OpenAI made successive forays into the AI video realm with new product launches. On September 29, Meta unveiled its AI short video platform, Vibes, seamlessly integrated into the Meta AI app. This platform empowers users to craft videos through text prompts or remix existing ones, while also allowing them to incorporate visual elements, music, and tweak styles. The resulting content can be shared on the Vibes feed or posted across Instagram and Facebook. The following day, September 30, OpenAI rolled out its next-generation video generation model, Sora 2, along with its companion iOS social app, Sora. Sora 2 marks a significant leap by enabling the synchronized generation of visuals and AI-generated audio for the first time. This advancement substantially enhances the accuracy of physical simulations and facilitates the replication of real-world dynamics. The Sora app boasts a vertical video stream design, enabling users to generate AI videos up to 10 seconds in length. With the 'Cameo' feature, users can seamlessly insert themselves or their friends into the scenes. Additionally, the app supports the secondary creation of videos crafted by others. Currently, the Sora app is accessible by invitation only in the United States and Canada, with plans to gradually extend its availability to other countries and regions in the near future.
