Recently, the National Medical Products Administration has approved and released the industry standard titled Terminology for Medical Devices Using Brain-Computer Interface Technology. This standard explicitly outlines the terms and definitions pertinent to medical devices that utilize brain-computer interface technology and is set to be officially enforced on January 1, 2026. Gao Zelong, an expert from the working group of the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance, remarked that the introduction of this standard will effectively tackle problems such as the confusion of industry-specific terms and ambiguous concepts. It will establish a unified language framework for research and development, evaluation, regulation, and clinical applications within the realm of brain-computer interface medical care, thereby paving the way for the high-quality development of "brain-computer interface + medical care" in China.
