Late on Friday night, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence firm, xAI, carried out a substantial round of layoffs within its data - labeling team. Around 500 employees were handed termination notices, which represents a third of the entire team's workforce. The company informed its staff through email that it plans to speed up its expansion efforts. It will give top priority to building up the 'specialized AI tutor' team. At the same time, it intends to drastically reduce its investment in the 'generalist AI tutor' team.
