On Thursday (local time), OpenAI and Microsoft entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), heralding the commencement of the next stage in their collaborative efforts and culminating in a mutual agreement on the revamped partnership framework. Per the terms of this accord, OpenAI is set to restructure its profit-oriented segment into a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). Subject to regulatory approval, this strategic maneuver is poised to unlock fresh funding opportunities and may lay the groundwork for a prospective initial public offering (IPO). The non-profit entity of OpenAI will maintain its supervisory role over the newly formed PBC and stand to acquire shares with an estimated valuation exceeding $100 billion. Presently, both entities are diligently engaged in the process of refining and finalizing the contractual stipulations of the definitive agreement.
