Effective September 1, 2025, the "Measures for Identifying AI-Generated Synthetic Content" will be enacted. These measures are designed to tackle the escalating challenge of distinguishing highly realistic AI-generated synthetic content and the associated security threats posed by misuse, abuse, and malicious applications. Pursuant to the "Measures," all content synthesized by AI, encompassing text, images, audio, video, and other formats, must legally incorporate "electronic watermarks," both explicit and implicit, to aid the public in discerning between authentic and synthetic content. This represents a pivotal advancement in China's pursuit of establishing a secure and trustworthy ecosystem within the realm of generative artificial intelligence.
