The Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology of the UK government has unveiled the "Crime Data Concentration Challenge," with the ambition to develop an AI-powered, real-time crime mapping system for England and Wales by 2030. This innovative map will forecast areas prone to high-risk crimes, including knife attacks and anti-social behavior, thereby enabling the police to preemptively allocate resources. The project's initial funding stands at £4 million, and a prototype is anticipated to be ready by April 2026. This groundbreaking initiative is designed to bolster the "Safer Streets" program and contribute to a significant reduction in criminal activity.
