Stanislav Lukianov
Combining cloud data processing and artificial intelligence is not an easy task. Stanislav Lukianov, Director of Product Management GridGain Systems, talks about advanced technologies of the future in GridGain. Stanislav is responsible for the roadmap, design, and architecture of the entire product line, as well as for processing user feedback.
Stanislav, GridGain 9 is positioned as a breakthrough distributed database running in RAM. What is the uniqueness of this solution, and what advantages does it offer to users, especially in the context of modern requirements for speed and scalability?
— GridGain 9 is truly a unique solution that combines the benefits of distributed architecture and In-Memory Computing. In today's world, where users expect instant application response, fast data access, and seamless service performance, GridGain 9 becomes an indispensable tool. Imagine that every click in a mobile application, every transaction, and every request is processed at lightning speed, regardless of the amount of data and the number of users.
Traditional distributed systems often face two main problems. First, developing applications for such systems requires specialized skills and knowledge, which complicates the process. Second, the functionality of these systems is often inferior to traditional, non-distributed databases. Developers have to find workarounds and use complex architectural solutions to compensate for these shortcomings.
GridGain 9 addresses these limitations. It delivers a distributed system that provides high scalability and incredible speed by storing data in main memory. This allows us to achieve minimal latency when accessing data and processing requests. At the same time, we have retained the functionality familiar to developers, including support for the standard SQL language.
This means that developers can use familiar tools and approaches without wasting time on learning new technologies. As a result, they get a powerful and flexible engine that maximizes application performance. To achieve these results, we have implemented many advanced algorithms and innovative solutions, making GridGain 9 a truly breakthrough product.
GridGain positions itself as a future-oriented technology platform that actively utilizes in-memory computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud solutions. Could you elaborate on how these technologies are implemented in your platform?
— Yes, we do strive to be at the forefront of technological advancement by offering state-of-the-art solutions. Let's start with cloud technologies. GridGain is designed to work in a wide variety of environments, including hybrid and multi-cloud configurations, as well as on-premises servers. We understand that companies choose cloud solutions for their flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, so we offer a wide range of cloud tools, including GridGain Nebula, our service for simplified management, monitoring, and deployment of GridGain Platform clusters directly in the cloud.
When it comes to artificial intelligence, we see it as a key element of the future. We strive to ensure that our customers are ready to use AI, even if they are not yet actively using it. In February 2025, we introduced the GridGain for AI platform, which enables GridGain to be used as a low-latency data store for real-time AI tasks.
GridGain for AI offers a number of important capabilities, including support for both predictive and generative AI. For example, the platform can be used for feature storage or prediction caching, which significantly speeds up the training and model inference processes. In addition, we provide integration with popular open source libraries and language models, making GridGain a versatile tool for AI developers.
Now let's move on to in-memory computing. GridGain provides distributed computing directly in RAM, which is the foundation for high performance and speed. This allows our customers to process data and perform analytics in real time, significantly reducing latency and increasing throughput compared to traditional disk-based systems.
What projects are in the focus of GridGain Systems, and what are the company's long-term goals?
— In today's IT environment, the requirements for user experience are constantly growing. Today, users expect maximum performance, convenience, and flexibility. We see three major trends that have a defining impact on our work.
First, there is undoubtedly cloud technology. Now that many companies are moving to the cloud, we strive to provide our customers with solutions that integrate seamlessly with cloud platforms and deliver optimal performance in a cloud environment.
Secondly, there is a trend towards "born-in-the-cloud" systems that are initially designed to run exclusively in the cloud. However, we recognize that many companies need flexibility and are looking for an optimal mix of cloud and on-premises solutions based on cost and specificity. Therefore, we focus on providing flexible solutions that can work both in the cloud and on-premises.
Finally, the most significant trend is the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Today, AI support is becoming a must-have. Even if a company doesn't use AI now, it expects its platform to support it in the future. Therefore, we are actively working on integrating AI technologies into our products, making them more powerful and functional.
We have already made significant progress in all these areas. We have solutions designed to work in the cloud, as well as solutions that support AI. We are now working on finding new use cases and new areas where we can be of value to our customers. In the near and long term, we plan to expand the capabilities of the platform, introduce new integrations, and create innovative solutions that will help our customers successfully solve the most complex challenges related to data processing, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing.
