NIO Power's 2026 May Day Charging Report reveals that from May 1st to May 5th, the total volume of charging and battery swapping on highways surpassed 15.43 million kWh, representing 16.3% of the national highway charging and battery swapping total. Collectively, users traveled over 566 million kilometers, with more than 130,000 users covering cumulative distances exceeding 1,000 kilometers—a remarkable 70.5% increase year-on-year. Over 220,000 users relied solely on battery swapping for their long-distance self-drive journeys. On May 1st, during the peak battery swapping period, the daily swap count soared to 170,585, averaging one swap every 0.51 seconds. Throughout this period, 186 highway battery swap stations set new records for single-day volumes, while 8,849 charging and battery swap stations collectively served 1,782,186 sessions, marking a 24.1% daily average increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Specifically, 3,839 battery swap stations handled 1,031,469 sessions, up 23.2% daily on average year-on-year. In February of this year, NIO surpassed the milestone of 100 million cumulative battery swaps, cementing battery swapping as the mainstream solution for new energy vehicle charging. On May 7th, NIO's Superchargers and battery swap station officially commenced operations at the Bulongji Service Area on the G30 Lianhuo Expressway in Guazhou, Jiuquan, Gansu Province, with the Hexi Corridor section of the Silk Road battery swap route slated for full connection by May 10th. As of now, NIO has established 8,849 charging and battery swap stations nationwide, with cumulative battery swaps exceeding 100 million.
