Xbox Game Pass Ultimate makes much better sense at its new price of £16.99 / $19.99, especially when it gets a new games lineup like the one coming over the next couple of weeks.
Not only do we get Mixtape, Outbound, Call of the Elder Gods, and Subnautica 2 as day one releases for Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, the highly-anticipated Forza Horizon 6 will be available to play at no extra cost.
Indeed, if you take just those five games into account, you're paying less than £3.40 / $4 to play each new game this month.
All of the above will be available over the coming 12 days – between now and 19 May (when Forza 6 arrives). And that doesn't even take into account the other games being added to Xbox Game Pass this month.
Forza Horizon 6 is one of Xbox's biggest game releases of the year so far. Available for Xbox Series X/S and PC (and also on Xbox Cloud Gaming, for platforms that support it), the open world arcade driver switches to the roads of Japan this time out.
It is said to be the biggest instalment yet, with more than 550 cars to collect and race, and from what we've seen so far, it's truly a next-gen driving experience.
Those who opt for a Premium Edition upgrade can even play a few days earlier – from 15 May.
Of course, day one releases are only available as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, but Premium members should also note that they get a stack of new games in May, too.
The games added for all members, including those with Xbox Game Pass Premium, include AAA hits Doom: The Dark Ages and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Also look out for Final Fantasy V, Ben 10 Power Trip, Descenders Next, Wheel World, and Wildgate, which are all available to play now.
Elite Dangerous will also be returning to Game Pass from 12 May, the same day at Black Jacket, although that will be for Ultimate and PC subscribers only for now.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate recently received a welcome price drop, after having been controversially hiked at the tail end of last year. It is now priced at £16.99 / $19.99 per month for over 400 games on Xbox consoles and PC, EA Play, Ubisoft+ Classics, Fortnite Crew and Xbox Cloud Gaming. You get exclusive offers and rewards too.
PC Game Pass was also dropped in price, to £10.99 / $13.99 per month. Neither plan will receive the latest Call of Duty games in future, as a caveat to the reduction in cost.
Xbox Game Pass Premium costs £10.99 / $14.99 per month. It gives you access to a truncated library of games, without the EA Play, Ubisoft+ Classics and Fortnite Crew benefits. You also don't get day one releases.
