The chest CT image-assisted diagnostic software, developed through pilot trials at the National Pilot Base for Artificial Intelligence Applications (Medical Field), has been granted access to the National Medical Products Administration’s (NMPA) expedited review process for innovative medical devices. This marks the first time a large-scale, multi-disease AI medical product in China has qualified for this specialized review pathway. In collaboration with United Imaging Intelligence, the Shanghai Pilot Base has pioneered the world’s first intelligent system for holistic chest health screening via a single CT scan. Leveraging advanced algorithms, this system can detect nearly 100 types of abnormalities from a single chest CT image, achieving a diagnostic accuracy rate of 97.8%. Its implementation not only optimizes clinical workflows for physicians but also revolutionizes patient health management. To date, the system has been deployed in nearly 30 hospitals across China, processing over 2.5 million cases cumulatively. Its "single-scan comprehensive screening" capability is now being expanded to cover additional anatomical regions. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Pilot Base has established a pilot validation platform to accelerate the clinical integration of cutting-edge medical AI technologies, ensuring safer and more efficient healthcare solutions.
