On March 12, the data scraping dispute between the open-source project OpenClaw and Tencent's SkillHub drew significant attention. Peter Steinberger, the founder of OpenClaw, accused Tencent of scraping large amounts of data from its platform without prior communication, resulting in a sharp increase in server costs. Tencent responded by stating that SkillHub is a local mirror site for Chinese users, with original sources clearly labeled. During its first week of operation, it handled 180GB of traffic but only pulled 1GB of data from the official source, effectively sharing the traffic load. Tencent also mentioned that its team members are code and PR contributors to OpenClaw and expressed a desire to continue supporting the ecosystem.
