Based on an internal memo acquired by the media, the U.S. Department of Defense has notified its senior leaders that they are authorized to keep using AI tools from Anthropic for national security purposes, even after the expiration of the previously announced six-month phase-out period, provided they deem such use essential. The memo, dated March 6, was signed by Kristyn Davis, the Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Department of Defense.
